72-hour ECG monitoring is often requested by a physician when an abnormal rhythm is suspected, or if you report symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, or blackouts. It is a painless, non-invasive test involving attaching a small monitor to either the centre or upper left of your chest. For this, you may need to remove your upper clothing and the area may need to be cleaned or shaved prior to attaching the device.
The device is waterproof, and you are encouraged to participate in your normal activities while wearing the device. You will be provided with a tracking sheet to monitor any symptoms that may occur during this period.
You do not need to do anything special to prepare for the test. You can eat and drink as normal beforehand.
